If you loved Elite - then the X series is right up your alley. Start off small, buy sell (ore/silicon and much, much more), create your own factories and expand your business - OR, buy a decent ship, fit loads of handy gadgets and start tearing aorund fighting pirates and loot their hauls! whatever you like there are hundreds of other worlds to explore. It does take a while to get used to the controls and the options (there are lots), but use resources on the internet and enjoy!

I`ve played quite a few long term, indepth games from aircraft simulations to battle sims. I liked the idea of X3 since it kind of plays like a simulation of far-future space-faring.

I`ve tried again and again to get into it, but I nigh fall asleep after a while. The graphics are amazingly `real`, showing you planets that look real and stations and ships slowly rotating, the sounds are great and the female computer voice is relaxingly perfect for your long stay etc, etc.

But it`s so slooowwww....

I don`t know what it is. Adding an internal area in your spacecraft wood`ve been nice and a way to look about in it. maybe stick up a pic or two... Or maybe it`s because interaction with actual Humans or Aliens is so wooden; if I could have a better communication like I`m really talking to someone it wouldn`t be so boring. Or maybe it`s because I can never actually travel to the surface of the beautiful planets to see what`s there.

I know: It`s beautiful, but STERILE.

I think the day they make the game more `Human` and less robotic, then I just might be able to stay awake and immerse myself in the experience while learning the intricacies.
